A journey of one thousand miles begins with a single step

Ken Sumida
This proverb is a witty remark and impresses me. One famous person, although I won't tell you who now, exemplified a whole life as being a long journey. I think, his/her (maybe his) remark can be applied to the words I initially show. A life is like a journey.

As we have already understood, our life is unpredictable, I mean, we can never foretell the future. If someone had the ability to predict the future, tragic incidents wouldn't recur. Quite often, this unpredictability makes us afraid, really. No matter when we need to make a serious decision, most of us may be frightened by unspecified fears. For example, when we are in two minds about whether or not we should quit our current job, we are excessively anxious about the future. This is because we don't know what will happen after going forward one way. So, a first step is essential for beginning new things. A second step, a third step, a hundredth step, no step is as significant as a first step. Looking at people around you, whenever they want to embark on new journey, that is, do new things, most of them talk with someone, even though they have been ready to do it! They want to let someone push their back. This represents how hard that first step is!

  1. Absolutely.
The first step is most important but really difficult to make it.
We need bravery and strong mind to make the first step.

It is good way to help each other to push their back!!

  2. Ken you are an open minded person and I admire you writing.

Life is truly a long journey with many expectations and sometimes it is the fear of the future that makes us plan, organize and predict the path that we should follow to achieve our goals and expectations.

So, be careful where you begin your single step towards the future because when you do there is NO Turning BACK!!

    Thank you Ken

  3. Fantastic piece of writing!!
It is true that we, humans, fear the day of tomorrow because we don't know what is going to happen. The same occurs when we have to make a decision, because we have no idea of which the consequences will be. But that is life, and if someone was able to predict the future, first of all, as you said, there would be no accidents or catastrophes, and second, life would be extremely boring.

I also agree with you Nezar, watch out with what you do, because once it is done there is nothing that can be changed.
